Examine the variety of uses for the mortarless retaining wall system in building gravity walls, soil-reinforced stabilized earth walls, parapets, tiered walls and much more. This seminar takes participants step by step through the design, specification and installation process. We discuss old and current projects and apply those techniques and details used in these versatile and innovative systems. Learning Objectives:
- Learn the characteristics and performance values of segmental retaining walls
- Discover various types of segmental walls and design considerations, including wall lay-out, soil properties and water conditions
- Gain an understanding of proper installation processes for segmental walls, including reinforcement options and drainage details
- Learn facing options and other details including guardrails, terrace and multi-tiered
Presenter Victor Venuta – Basalite Building Products Victor is the North Bay and Northern CA technical representative for Basalite Building Products, LLC, specializing in engineered products and site solutions. Victor works with architects, engineers, municipalities and contractors and has been involved with large, high profile projects including Candlestick Point and Hunter’s Point. He is the current president of the North Bay Engineers, and a member of East Bay Engineers, American Public Works Association, Redwood Empire Association of Code Officials, American Society of Civil Engineers, and American Institute of Architects (Redwood Empire). Victor has a Bachelor of Science Degree from San Jose State University and a Master’s Degree from St. Mary’s College (Moraga).
