At our next meeting, get ready to "BART thru Time" as staff from the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District take you on a historical photo tour of the train system the world called an engineering marvel. Join special guest Myat San and his cohorts from BART Engineering Team as they share the extraordinary story of how this world-class transit system has helped transform the Bay Area into one of the best places to live, work and play over the past 5 decades. And learn about the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for the next 50 years.
Presentation Bio:
Myat is the interim Assistant Chief of Engineering at San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District. In his current role, he leads Technical Engineering Services, spanning Design, Engineering, Strategic Planning, Program/Project Delivery, and Construction Management, with responsibilities for Capital Projects, Asset Reliability, Maintenance, and Operations support.
As part of the Building a Better BART initiative for the Bay Area (under Measure RR), he is heading the $2B+ programs for renewals and modernization of BART’s high voltage power systems, train control, track, and tunnels, and infrastructure. Prior to joining BART, Myat worked in the utility sector, commercial nuclear power.
About:
Myat received his B.S. Electrical Engineering degree from Tulane University, New Orleans, LA, and later his M.S. Engineering degree from Purdue University, Lafayette IN. He is the Assistant Chief Engineering Officer in the Operations – Maintenance & Engineering Department. Myat has been with San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District for 6 years.
Myat San is a licensed professional engineer in both Electrical Engineering and Power.
